From Dust to Glory: Jesus Christ, the Greatest Gift (Christmas Eve 2016)

Even though this world has its beautiful moments, it’s still a dark place, and sometimes we feel trapped. Like the 33 workers in a collapsed mine in Chile in 2010, we can paint the walls as often as we want, and as brightly as we can, but we know we’re cut off from the real source of light. Deep down, we know we weren’t made to live in a world marked by darkness, discouragement, and death. But how can we be rescued from the brokenness of this world? God’s answer is Christmas—the birth of his Son, Jesus Christ. He came to provide the ultimate rescue. In this 2016 Christmas Eve sermon, Pastor Tim turns to an unexpected passage in Luke’s Gospel to illustrate why Jesus came, and what happened when he did. From the Parable of the Lost Coin, we learn how Jesus went from glory to dust so that we might be raised from dust to glory. Also shared is the testimony of a man whose life has been changed by this glorious touch from Jesus Christ.
